Storyreading
From SWILwiki
Storyreadings are one of SWIL's oldest traditions, since the first one was held during the Presidency of our Fearless and Charismatic Leader in 1980. These days, they are less common than some other once-in-a-while events, like roundsings, but remain characteristically SWIL.
At a Storyreading, attendees are asked to bring along a story (or a few) that are under 20 minutes (about 10 pages) and that can stand alone (because even if the chapter you want to read is really really good, if it doesn't make sense to people who haven't read the book, it just doesn't work). Then everyone sits about and listens to people read from their chosen sources. Semiprofessional story reader Jed Hartman '90 offers this Guide To Story Readings (http://www.kith.org/logos/things/reading.html).
SWIL's most prominent storyreading is Walpurgisnacht which, unlike other Storyreadings, has a recommended theme.
