A list of "Retired Monsters", from 2000 or before, gives the following description:

THE SIREN--Does not wear armor but may easily identified by her
continuous and mesmerising songs. All players who can hear
the siren must STOP and listen to the song until released.
The siren will usually assign a task to players which must be
performed in order for them to be released. The siren CANNOT NOT
BE KILLED REGARDLESS OF THE CHEEZINESS OF HER REPRETOIRE!}}}

I'm guessing that the unknown scribe meant "cannot be killed."

Anecdotes and Lore

The only thing I distinctly remember is being a siren. 'Cause I
came up with the role but hadn't thought it through thoroughly. Mostly
I just went around singing periodically. Soprano. Random notes or
snatches of stuff. People were supposed to get dead by means of that,
but of course, selective deafness happened, so mostly I think they died
if they asked me what I was supposed to be. Which was altogether not a
particularly sporting sort of character.

According to Bhadrika '88, the Siren existed while she was at Swarthmore, and killed by shining a flashlight on players (making her somewhat of the antithesis of the Grue). This apparently didn't work so well, as it was hard to convince players that the light had hit them, and, moreover, they were now dead.
