Hunt equipment
From SWILwiki
The annual Pterodactyl Hunt is probably SWIL's biggest resource hog (at least now that we've stopped running SWILcons), in terms of time, energy, money, and storage space in George. There're a lot of goods, ranging from random items to weaponry to costumes, not all of which gets used every year. Some additional costuming stuff is usually supplied by people playing the monsters.

Weapons
- Foam swords: The official weapon of the hunt, they replaced the earlier newspaper swords, and have a number of different functions:
- Silver Daggers (blue): Formerly part of a complicated quest to kill the Werewolf, they can now be purchased at Hunt Central (and used as offhand weapons, if this rule is in play), but can still be used to kill werewolves.
- Hunter shortswords (yellow): issued to every hunter for the duration of the hunt
- Hunter longswords (yellow): can be purchased at Hunt Central for gold
- Monster shortswords (green): issued to Basic Monsters, Turtles, and the Hobgoblin King (2).
- Pencil swords (pencil-colored): issued to Dactyl Guards
- Monster longswords (green): were issued to Orcs in the 2003 Hunt, when Hobgoblins had reduced target area.
- The Orc King's gigantic longsword
- Other foam things
- Werewolf gloves, with duct tape claws
- Water guns
- Super Soakers for the Pterodactyls
- Plastic squirt guns for the Spondees
[edit]
Shields
- hunter shields (plain, duct tape-covered)
- Dactyl Guard shields (Arma virumque cano)
- Kobold shields (Red and gold, circular)

Costumes and Armor
- Trash bags
- Black trashbags are the "armor" of monsters
- White ones are hunters' armor.
- Like a fencing lame, armor denotes the target area; unlike a fencing lame, armor provides very little real protection.
- In 2006, Hobgoblins got red "biohazard" trashbags to distinguish them from Orcs. This is fine, as long as everyone knows what's going on.
- Pterodactyl Wings
- Turtle shells
- Spondee wings
- Black Knight weapons: traditionally constructed by the Black Knight himself
- Jabberwock head and claws
- Hunt Wizards' cloaks were traditionally whatever cloaks they happened to own, usually black. In 2004 we made a set of vivid red cloaks for them, after an experiment with some rather ugly orange tabards in 2003.
- Squires' bright yellow tabards, with the red Pterodactyl insignia, were also introduced in the 2004 hunt.
- Connecting tube for the Hydra
