Dark SWIL

Dark SWIL was a tangential faction of SWIL around 1990, a group of people who sometimes read science fiction and sometimes ate at SWIL table, without showing any interest in attending SWIL meetings.

It's unclear whether the connotations of this term are closer to the relatively neutral para-SWIL (people who sometimes hang out with SWIL, or participate in the same activities, without identifying as part of the group), or the more charged Old SWIL of the Schism of 2001. Given that they were a key component of the SWIL angst of 1990, one is inclined to suspect the latter.
